The Saskatchewan RCMP is investigating suspicious circumstances around a single-vehicle crash on Highway 9 south of Hudson Bay last week.

Around 5:40 a.m. on Dec. 5, Hudson Bay RCMP responded to a report of a motor vehicle incident, RCMP said in a news release on Dec. 6.
A preliminary investigation shows the vehicle left the highway and came to a rest at the bottom of an embankment.

A 50-year-old woman from Hudson Bay was found nearby and declared dead at the scene by paramedics, the release said. Her family has been notified.
A man also received medical care for non-life-threatening injuries.
In an update Thursday, Saskatchewan RCMP said they are now investigating “suspicious circumstances” that were found in the initial investigation.
They are being assisted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, Hudson Bay RCMP, Sask. RCMP’s forensic identification services and a collision reconstructionist.
Updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
Hudson Bay is about 350 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
