- Zen Pinball World is out now on iOS and Android
- It boasts top Williams pinball tables featuring famous brands
- Whether that’s television, movies, videogames or otherwise, all free to play!
Console is big, PC is bigger, mobile is really big; but even we must bow down to the king of them all, pinball. Yes, even decades after its invention the humble pinball machine, once a vice on the road to ruin (yes, really), is still kicking and bigger than ever. And now Zen Studios’ latest entry in their pinball series is out now with Zen Pinball World on iOS and Android.
Zen Pinball World boasts twenty different tables, each one distinctive and many featuring popular films and television series. Whether it’s The Princess Bride, South Park, Battlestar Galactica or Borderlands, Zen Pinball World lets you leap into them and play wherever and whenever absolutely free (albeit with a few ads sprinkled in).
Yes, as much as some may gush or groan at collaborations, before mobile or even branded video games the humble pinball machine was turning even the strangest of franchises into money-making machines. Zen Studios have amassed their own mini-empire of pinball machine simulators on mobile, and Pinball World is set to be their biggest thus far.
Not so zenless now, huh?
So far, reception seems to be broadly positive for Zen Pinball World, although the ads have drawn a bit of ire, as have some performance issues. I don’t doubt the latter will be ironed out, but I’m more mind-boggled by just how many big names are included.
I know the world of pinball branding must be complicated, but considering the rigmarole most crossovers in things like Fortnite have to go through, seeing stuff like Knight Rider and Borderlands sat alongside Xena: Warrior Princess is nothing short of surreal.
You need only look as far as our list of the top eight best pinball games on mobile to see how narrow but popular the niche of this famous, enduring format is!
