A Place In The Sun presenter Ben Hillman has his work cut out for him. The Channel 4 favourite and his wife Gaby have been renovating their home in Brighton since purchasing it back in 2016, and he has given social media followers an insight into the changes.
Their family nest is a carefully selected 1934 four-bedroom residence that underwent a loving transformation under Ben’s attentive eye but revealed there was more to do after his wife’s urgent request.
The property expert shared a photo of striking orange walls in the family’s utility room, which have begun to be painted over to make them look a little less bright.
In view of his 19,600 followers, he wrote: “What are you up to? I hear you say. Saving my marriage! That’s what [smiling face emoji] #diyfail #painting #utility #home #interiors.”
Ben was swiftly inundated with messages from his supporters as they reacted to the cheeky post.
One shared: “lol my mum painted the hallway that colour in the 1980’s ….took 3 days before my dad noticed.”(sic)
Another chuckled: “Bold choice…” while a third remarked: “Oh yeah. I can see why she would want rid of that colour.”
A fourth corrected: “ha ha Yay!!! Happy wife Happy Life…. Gaby will be pleased I’m sure.”
Away from the cameras, Ben resides in Shoreham-By-Sea with his wife and two children. He tied the knot with NHS worker Gaby in 2011.
Shortly after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, Hope Blossom, and a second daughter, Honour Willow.
Ben often gives fans a glimpse into his family life via his Instagram account.
The TV star revealed that his daughters have inherited his passion for DIY, saying: “They are my DIY girls and join me on my adventures. During the build, I did the A Place In The Sun walk round with them, saying, ‘Imagine how it’s going to look like when it’s finished.'”
