GB News star Mark Dolan has shared that he has been let go from his position on the news channel. In a shock statement the TV star announced that he would share more information “in due course” as surprised fans flooded him with support.
In the statement, which the 50-year-old presenter shared to X/Twitter, Mark wrote: “STATEMENT. GB News have made the decision to permanently relieve me of my duties at the channel.”
He added: “I will speak publicly about this in due course.” Fans instantly rushed to support him.
In an earlier post, he penned: “SOME NEWS I’ve hosted my last MARK DOLAN TONIGHT on GB News More to follow…”
One of Mark’s followers commented: “I stopped watching GB news when Mark Steyn was ousted. I caught up with Neil Oliver’s monologues via X and I catch Patrick Christy and your posts here too.
“Only a matter of time before Beverley Turner is booted. Then the station will be irrelevant. Hope you go on to do bigger and better things.”
Another added: “Sorry to hear that Mr Dolan – you have a great gift with words,” with a third writing: “What will be left of GB given they are now purging the remainder of everyone who made them unique in the first place? The list is too long now.”
“That’s a shame Mark! I’m sure you’ll bounce back with an even better opportunity,” one more penned while someone else posted: ” Shocking news. Very sorry to hear this Mark – yet another quality act being jettisoned.
“Why? It makes no sense. Unless you’re the start of a major trimming down because they’re on the way out. I’m fast losing interest in @GBNEWS – dumbing down the output will lose them viewers.”
It comes as sources have claimed that an unnamed second presenter has also been “relieved of their duties”.
GBN Updates wrote on Twitter: “@MrMarkDolan has left GB News. His last show was on Sunday.
“We understand that he is one of two presenters relieved of their duties on the channel today. We, GBN Updates, an non-affiliated fan account are saddened by this news and wish Mark the best for the future.”
Dolan joined the news channel back in 2021 after he left talkRADIO. He began presenting Mark Dolan Tonight on Saturday and Sunday evenings between 9pm and 11pm.
In November 2023, Patrick Christys took over the Tonight show on Friday evenings, with Dolan presenting a new programme, Friday Night Live, between 9.30pm and 10pm.
He has occasionally presented the paper review show Headliners on the channel.
