A 27-year-old man is dead following a fire at Capone’s Hideaway Motel in Moose Jaw.
Firefighters were called to the downtown location on Friday night. The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) said the fire department informed them of a structure fire at the local motel just after 11 p.m.
The fire department was able to contain and extinguish the blaze but one person was hospitalized for “serious” fire-related injuries.

In an update provided on Tuesday, the MJPS said the man “succumbed to his injuries” and was pronounced dead at a Regina hospital on Saturday.
No other injuries have been reported from the fire.
Moose Jaw police say local firefighters are working with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and now the Saskatchewan Coroners Office to investigate. No further comment will be made at this time, the police added.
