Thousands of toddler step stools are being recalled after a child’s head got stuck in one of them.
Aosom Canada Inc.’s Qaba Toddler Kitchen Helper 2 Step Stool is an “entrapment hazard” because of the space between the bars on the back of the product, according to Health Canada in an update Tuesday on its recalls website.
Aosom, an e-commerce company, said 6,656 of the affected Chinese-made products were sold in Canada from July 2021 to October 2024. The company is based in Markham, Ont., and sells products through major retailers including Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Loblaws and Wayfair.
“Immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Aosom Canada for instructions on how to correct the product for continued use,” Health Canada wrote.
Aosom Canada has received one report of a child’s head getting stuck in the bars of the product in Canada as of Dec. 3.
Health Canada initially posted a recall about the product on Dec. 6 and expanded it on Tuesday.
