Second graders from Rachel Patterson and Huxford Elementary Schools celebrated the roof off Wednesday morning as they became Super Citizens.
Through the Liberty Learning Foundation’s Super Citizens program, the students have immersed themselves in important lessons about civics, character development, financial literacy and career exploration, all while discovering what it means to be responsible citizens, according to officials.
The Super Citizens were reminded of three important words revolving the program, including citizens, community and appreciation.
“Today is all about appreciation,” officials said at the event.
During the graduation celebration, students from each school recognized their heroes.
From RPES, Second Grader Collyns Wilson recognized the school’s hero in Ms. Vonda Bynum.
From HES, Jacxon Huckabaa recognized his hero in Cheyenne Ikner.
Additionally, HES Second Grader Ella Phillips recognized School Resource Officer Johnny Wilson as the school’s hero.
Pledge volunteers included Indya House from RPES, and Presley Staples from HES.
Liberty song volunteers included Taylor Howard, Malise Mills, Kinsley Norwood, Malaysia McCants and Makinsley Martin, RPES; and Emma Whatley, Eli Trevino, Avayah McIlwain, Kyla Hamilton and Curtis Hayes, HES.
The Liberty Learning Foundation was brought to the schools by the Escambia County Community Alliance, which is comprised of Alfa Insurance, AlaTrade Foods, Alabama Department of Education, Regions Bank, The Daniel Foundation of Alabama, The Malone Family Foundation, BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, HoneyBees Tees, Rep.
