Two men charged in a large Regina drug bust that netted an estimated $1.8-million worth of fentanyl are both facing additional charges for offences allegedly committed while they were on bail.
Stemming from the drug bust that occurred March 1, Christopher Ray Briltz, 39, and Brent Douglas Orr, 52, each face multiple charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and a charge for possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

It was previously reported that Orr received further charges while out on bail. Those include two additional charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, an additional charge for possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, and a charge of breaching release conditions.
The Regina Leader-Post has now learned that Briltz too sustained further charges while on bail.
Court documents out of Saskatoon indicate that police brought a total of nine additional charges against him in that city, all alleged to have occurred on Oct 22.
In a nutshell, the charges allege that Briltz committed a number of offences related to a sawed-off shotgun in his possession. Further, they allege he possessed unspecified quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. And finally, they allege he breached a release condition not to possess or consume drugs or alcohol.
Briltz and Orr are currently in custody awaiting their next court appearances.
Orr’s matters have been marked by issues with counsel since he fired a lawyer in July. That lawyer had previously told court she’d been in “resolution discussions” with the Crown regarding Orr’s charges.

While the matters of both men proceeded together in Regina on the same court dates, lawyers representing Briltz told the court on numerous occasions they were satisfied with adjournments to allow Orr time to deal with issues surrounding his own legal representation.
The March 1 bust that brought about the initial round of charges against both men was the second large fentanyl seizure by the Regina Police Service (RPS) in the early months of the year.
An RPS news release sent out at the time listed the drugs seized in the bust as: 4.5 kilograms of fentanyl, 850 grams of cocaine, 5.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, and one litre of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (commonly known as GHB).
Additionally, police said over $22,000 in cash was seized.
