- Shatterproof Games has announced the release date for Aarik and the Ruined Kingdom on mobile
- Shift viewpoints to solve perspective-based puzzles in this low-poly fantasy adventure
- Over 90 unique puzzles across 35 distinctive levels
Shatterproof Games has confirmed that their fairytale-like puzzler Aarik and The Ruined Kingdom will launch next year, as it comes to iOS and Android on January 25th. So what’s this low-poly puzzler got to offer? Let’s dig in and find out!
You play as the young prince Aarik as he journeys across the titular Ruined Kingdom, seeking to reunite his family. To do so he’ll have to cross burning deserts, desolate swampland, mystical forests and beyond in his quest.
Fortunately, he won’t be going in underequipped as Aarik wields his father’s magical crown. Use it to do everything from spin, drag and grow the parts of a puzzle, and even reverse time! You’ll be challenged by 90 individual puzzles spread across a distinctive journey of 35 levels to tackle.
You should see me in a crown
The best part? Aarik and The Ruined Kingdom is the latest release to take a “try before you buy” approach. You’ll be able to experience the first eight levels of Aarik and The Ruined Kingdom completely free, with the additional levels available as a one-off purchase.
Looking at Aarik and The Ruined Kingdom I can definitely see a lot to appeal to a wide audience. The colourful, cartoony, low-poly graphics are (I’d hope) not too intensive technically, while still looking gorgeous. I can only imagine a smaller screen would help even more, and if you’re going by content alone the try-before-you-buy approach means that even if you’re sceptical you can give it a try without any strings attached.
Still, if Aarik isn’t your kind of prince, don’t go all French Revolution just yet. Instead, why not take some time to cool off and try some of the games we’ve listed on our ranking of the top 25 best puzzlers for iOS and Android?
