USAA recently announced its rollout of CCC’s Parts Parity to all STARS network locations, according to an update sent to STARS shops.
Mark Fincher, CCC vice president of product management, said in an email statement to Repairer Driven News that the program is a new functionality in CCC ONE. He says the program allows insurers to share their preferred parts suppliers with repairers.
This allows repair facility users to see a “broader sampling of alternative parts when writing the estimate,” Fincher said.
CCC did not answer questions about whether other insurers are currently using the program.
In a December, USAA provided communication as “reminders and guidance updates” to all STARS locations, indicating the rollout is complete to all network location, for the new enhanced parts sourcing program to all network locations.
USAA indicated the network facilities would have received communication through Entegral, including training information produced by CCC. Training documents have also been added to the Entegral Resource Library.
USAA notes the program allows shops to refresh parts availability and pricing, eliminating the need to delete and re-add parts. According to the STARS communications “parts sourcing now includes the same part suppliers that USAA reviewers use today.”
The announcement also says shops will receive training documents on the program.
Repairer Driven News requested the training documents from CCC. The company did not provide the documents in their response.
Honda and Acura Certified Collision Centers were recently notified they will be required to review and complete a Replacement Part Customer Disclosure Notice with customers starting Jan. 1, according to an email sent by the Honda Wholesale Marketing Team.
The disclosure notice defines new genuine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, aftermarket (A/M) parts, recycled parts, and remanufactured parts.
“While aftermarket, recycled, and remanufactured parts may look the same as new OEM parts, the quality, performance, and safety of these parts, and whether they are compatible with a particular Honda or Acura vehicle, is unknown,” the disclosure says. “Use of these parts also may compromise the operation of factory-engineered safety systems.”
While not mentioned in the notice, a Honda position statement recommends that any repairs be performed by an experienced professional using a Honda body repair manual and Honda Genuine OEM replacement parts designated for use in the specific Honda vehicle being repaired. This includes all mechanical, electrical, body panel, and structural components.
“This will ensure that the parts and components were designed and built to provide the same fit, function, safety, and structural integrity as when the vehicle was initially made,” the statement says.
