Super 8 and 35mm films are among the many current online offerings of the 27th annual Media City Film Festival —Windsor and Detroit’s binational celebration of artist-driven and digital works.
This year’s festival lineup features more than 70 films from over 30 countries, available online to local and international audiences for free until the end of the month.

“Media City Film Festival is a world-renowned annual event that celebrates artist-driven cinema and digital art,” said Windsor West NDP MPP Lisa Gretzky in a media release.
“For over 30 years, Media City Film Festival has consistently championed the works of emerging and established film makers, presenting barrier free programming to global audiences.”
The lineup includes new works by local, regional, national, and international filmmakers and artists — many screened in their original formats, such as digital, Super 8, 16mm, and 35mm.
Oona Mosna, the artistic director of Media City Film Festival, said the transition to online streaming has allowed the organization to reach new viewers who would otherwise be out of reach.
Between 2020 and 2023, the festival connected with more than 320,000 local and global audience members through its virtual offerings.
Now, Media City continues to grow, thanks to more than $400,000 in federal and provincial funding.
These grants will help the Windsor arts organization “continue to provide important access to participants locally, across Ontario, and around the world,” added Mosna.
