This Morning star Dr Ranj Singh has revealed he was rushed to hospital and in need of stitches after an accident.
The 45-year-old TV doctor explained he had suffered from a fall over the Christmas period, where he ‘face-planted’.
He shared a picture of a white bandage over his right eye, taken while in hospital, and wrote: ‘Not quite how I planned to spend my Saturday night.’
After sparking concern, Dr Ranj clarified: ‘Apologies should have explained… I slipped and face-planted the pavement… earned myself 5 lovely stitches.
‘All sorted though! And thank you for the messages of concern. x.’
Just days earlier, Dr Ranj wished his followers a Merry Christmas, writing: ‘If, however or wherever you might be spending it… big Xmas kisses to you all! Let’s use it as a chance to spread a bit more kindness and joy.’
The star regularly appears on the likes of Morning Live and Lorraine, and previously featured on This Morning.
Earlier this year, he was forced to shut down claims that he’s no longer able to practise medicine after incorrect rumours that he’d lost his licence.
Setting the record straight, he took to X: ‘Please ignore the people on social media claiming I’ve “lost my medical licence”. Surprise surprise, this is completely untrue.’
He went on: ‘I intentionally put my Licence To Practise on hold earlier this year because I’m taking a bit of time off clinical work to pursue other projects (as you might have seen!).
‘It just takes a couple of months for the process to complete.’
He concluded by stating: ‘It’s perfectly normal for doctors to do this, and there is no other reason involved. And I’m still very much a GMC-registered doctor.’
Dr Ranj quit This Morning in 2022 after 10 years, and, following the scandal surrounding the ITV programme after Phillip Schofield’s exit over his ‘unwise but not illegal affair’, spoke out about the alleged ‘toxic culture’ behind the scenes.
The presenter has also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, and The Great British Sewing Bee Christmas special in 2020.
He’s now shared a new step in his career as he stepped outside of his comfort zone and turned towards musical theatre to be a part of & Juliet.
‘Specifically, at the start of 2024, I told myself I wanted to chase more joy,’ he told RSVP Live. ‘We’ve all had a really, really rough and tough few years.
‘I thought, “Right, I’ve been working in the NHS for over 20 years and I’ve achieved what I wanted to achieve, and gotten to the position and level that I wanted to get to — I need a new challenge”.
‘I put that on hold and thought, “Right, I’m going to start exploring some other dreams that I’ve had”.’
He went on to say musical theatre had always been his ‘dream’ but he’d been unsuccessful with past auditions, and was ‘absolutely shocked’ to be offered the role of Lance in & Juliet.
He added: ‘It’s been a dream come true. I’ve always dreamed of doing musical theatre — ever since I saw my first show.
‘I can’t actually believe that 2024 is the year it actually happened, and in such a beautiful and joyful show like & Juliet. It really has been a dream come true.’
