In his recent interview, Ram Kapoor said that Ekta Kapoor suffered the consequences of his kissing scene with Sakshi Tanwar in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.
Ekta Kapoor and Ram Kapoor, Sakshi Tanwar in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain
Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar’s intimate scene in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain created controversy in 2012 as it showed their characters Ram Kapoor and Priya Kapoor consummating their marriage. Such an intimate moment was never seen on the Indian television before and it became one of the most watched episodes ever.
Now, in a recent interview, Ram Kapoor shared that how he and Sakshi Tanwar were initially scared about the scene but it was the show’s creator and producer Ekta Kapoor who finally convinced them. Talking to the popular YouTuber Siddharth Kannan, the Jubilee actor said, “Ekta’s the one who wrote the scene, wanted us to do the scene. I told Ekta, ‘Are you sure? Ye television mein pehle kabhi hua nahi hai, it was the first kiss of television, which is a big thing. And three generations watch (the show) together but Ekta was very confident ki wo karna hai. I said, okay, I’ll first get a go-ahead from my wife. Fir maine Sakshi ko bola ki look, I will handle Ekta. If you have a problem, tell me.”
Ram further added what Sakshi’s father told him as he added, “Sakshi’s father said the most amazing thing to me. He called me and said ki ‘Ram, tu hai, toh sab theek hai.’ They trusted me so we went ahead and did it. It took two nights, Ekta suffered the consequences later.”
Though Ram didn’t talk negatively about the scene, it seems that his remarks have angered Ekta. She took to her Instagram and penned a cryptic note that read, “Unprofessional actors giving interviews about my shows should shut up! False information and skewed stories. Can only last till I talk but there is dignity in silence.”
When the screenshot of Ekta’s Instragram Story went viral on social media, netizens guessed that she was talking about Ram Kapoor. One of them wrote, “I guess its about Ram Kapoor. He gave recent interview to Siddharth Kannan in which he spoke about a Bade Achhe Lagte Hain scene where Ekta faced backlash and during the show, I heard Ekta was not happy towards the end due to too much body doubles as actors were not shooting regularly.”
Aired from 2011 to 2014 on Sony TV, the popular show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain was named after the popular song composed by RD Burman for the 1976 Bollywood film Balika Badhu. The reboot version Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2, starring Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar, ran from 2021 to 2023. The threequel Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 3 also aired for a couple of months in 2023.
