- A Kickstarter Campaign is in the works
Writer and filmmaker Ahmed Alameen is launching his first point-and-click adventure game later this year entitled My Father Lied. The solo developer’s premier effort is a narrative-driven point-and-click puzzler that takes inspiration from Mesopotamian history.
You’ll play as Huda, a young woman investigating her father’s disappearance. While Huda’s father vanished twenty years ago, she begins to investigate his strange disappearance after learning she has a brother that her father never told her about.
Originally, Alameen began the project in partnership with a college classmate. At the time Alameen was acting as the narrative designer. However, when the team broke apart, he decided to learn more about game design to finish the project himself.
As you play, you’ll use point-and-click mechanics to explore the world around you and solve puzzle after puzzle. Put images together piece by piece, solve codes, and more, all while exploring hauntingly beautiful environments. Alameen describes My Father Lied as a mix of Myst, Heaven’s Vault, and the literary works of H.P. Lovecraft.
Rather than meticulously modelling every aspect of the environment, Alameen took a more creative approach. Both 2D and 360-degree images were used throughout the title, including the cutscenes which were created frame by frame. According to the solo developer, this method allows for high-quality visuals that can run on low-end PCs.
My Father Lied will be available on the App Store, Google Play, and for PC via Steam as of May 30th for 10.99$/€. You can currently add the point-and-click puzzle adventure to your Steam Wishlist. However, it’s not available for pre-registration on mobile as of yet. You can learn more about MY FATHER LIED by following Lunar Games on X, Discord, TikTok, or Instagram. Additionally, if this piques your interest, keep an eye out for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
