Khushi Mali took over the popular character of Sonu Bhide after the exit of Palak Sindhwani.
TV actress Khushi Mali, who recently joined the popular show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah as Sonu Bhide, has opened up about her bonding with co-stars like Nitish Bhaluni aka Tapu and her on-screen father Atmaram Bhide (played by Mandar Chandwadkar). Khushi joined the long-running sitcom in October last year, replacing Palak Sindhwani who played Sonu for five years. Opening up on her equation on the sets and her initial days shooting, Khushi admitted to being nervous.
“Things have changed since I joined. I am grateful for the fans who gave me love and support. There was a pressure at the back of my mind which has now disappeared, thanks to my audience,” she told Pinkvilla.
Speaking about her equation with co-actors, Khushi revealed how her bond with Nitish Bhaluni is the same as their characters of Sonu and Tapu. “There is no difference between our off-screen and on-screen bond. On the first day when I came for the mock shoot, I got to know him and I found him as a nice human being. His behaviour is good and not just about him but everyone in the Tapu Sena is good,” she added.
Apart from her ‘Tapu Sena’, Khushi also seems to be sharing a very good relationship with her on-screen parents. “I was so nervous that it was such a great opportunity to share the screen with actors like Sonali ma’am and Mandar sir. But when I did my scenes with them, it felt natural. They helped me with it,” she said further revealing that she calls as ‘Aai-Baba’ in real life and has even saved their numbers with the same names.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Khushi Mali also opened up about the ongoing track in the show revolving around Sonu and Tapu’s marriage. Calling it “very organic and relatable,” she explained how the characters share a strong friendship and that the upcoming episodes will be fun, interesting, and entertaining.
