“He’s more Mellencamp than Merle,” says Major’s official website. “His lyrics champion the ‘Blue Collar Hero’ in a manner that resonates of Springsteen and other roots rock legends, but it is in the country music format that Charlie Major finds his home.”
Major has travelled the world since his mid-’90s heyday, performing from a massive catalogue that features 10 No. 1 Canadian singles.
Some of his biggest hits include (deep breath): The Other Side, It Can’t Happen to Me, Life’s Too Short, I’m Gonna Drive You Out Of My Mind, Tell Me Something I Don’t Know, For the Money, Some Days Are Better, Nobody Gets Too Much Love, I’m Somebody, and I’m Feeling Kind of Lucky Tonight (exhale).
Major won three straight Juno awards for country male vocalist of the year (1994-96) and was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
