Bell has slightly lowered the costs of its wireless plans, but it also made the plans slightly worse.
Early in January, we rounded up several of the post-Boxing Week plan changes at various Canadian wireless providers. At the time, Bell offered $65/100GB and $95/200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plans. Now the company has lowered the prices and made some other changes.
First up, Bell lowered the cost of its 100GB plan. It’s now $60/mo (after an autopay discount), down from $65. Bell doesn’t specify how much its autopay discount is, but given there’s no other discount noted for this plan, it seems like its $15/mo as the regular price for the 100GB plan is 75GB — that’s unchanged from earlier this year.
The plan still includes full-speed 5G+ data, unlimited usage with speeds throttled to 512Kbps beyond the 100GB cap, SD video streaming (quality is capped at 480p unless you pay an extra $5/mo for HD streaming), and unlimited calling and texting in Canada plus international texting. Bell is even still offering Crave Basic with Ads bundled in. All this means that, aside from the price, nothing has changed with this plan.
The same can’t be said for Bell’s other plan. It now costs $98 before the autopay discount, or $88 with autopay, and includes 188GB of data. Sure, the price is down from $95, but you get less data too. And it’s very strange that Bell’s autopay discount for this plan is only $10/mo instead of $15/mo like the $60/100GB plan.
Beyond the price and data changes, the plan remains nearly identical to before. It still includes full-speed 5G+ data and unlimited usage throttled to speeds of up to 512Kbps beyond the data cap. It includes HD video streaming (quality capped at 1080p) and unlimited calling, texting and data use in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, 1,000 international minutes and free Crave Basic with Ads.
And Bell is still offering bundle deals on both plans, so prices are even lower if you also get home internet from the company.
