The ‘Krrish’ franchise remains one of Indian cinema’s most beloved superhero series, but its long-awaited fourth installment is facing major financial roadblocks. Rakesh Roshan, the director and producer behind the series, recently admitted that budgeting has been a significant challenge in bringing ‘Krrish 4‘ to life.
Speaking in an interview with Gaana, Rakesh Roshan explained that the film’s grand scale demands a high budget, making it difficult to finance. He acknowledged that modern audiences, especially younger viewers, are exposed to high-quality international superhero films, making it essential for ‘Krrish 4’ to meet global standards. However, with Hollywood productions operating on budgets of $500-600 million, competing at that level remains unrealistic for an Indian production.
The ‘Karan Arjun’ director stressed that while the movie will feature large-scale sequences, they will be fewer in number due to budget constraints. He also highlighted a broader concern, audiences have yet to return to theaters in full force post-pandemic, making large investments even riskier. Despite these challenges, Rakesh Roshan assured fans that ‘Krrish 4’is still in the pipeline, though the team is taking time to navigate financial hurdles before proceeding.
The Krrish journey began with ‘Koi Mil Gaya'(2003), followed by ‘Krrish’ (2006) and ‘Krrish 3‘(2013), all starring Hrithik Roshan in the titular role. While the wait for the next chapter continues, the ambition behind ‘Krrish 4’ remains intact, even if it takes longer to materialize.
