Re: Trump’s tariff’s spark jeers for U.S. anthem at Ottawa arena, online, Feb. 1
Going to Europe for research for my dissertation on the First World War, I saw many examples of Canada’s contribution to freedom.
There was a bunker in Ypres with poppies, crosses and Canadian flags. I was at the spot where John McCrae wrote In Flanders Fields. I saw the monuments for Canadian soldiers killed during the first gas attack at Ypres. In that attack, thousands of Canadians died.
I am an American, I honour Canada’s service. Booing our anthem broke my heart.

BOO TO YOU
Shame on those Canadians who booed the U.S. national anthem. Protest any way you like, but respect all anthems.
Smarten up and show some class. You’re Canadian!

RIDICULOUS TRUMP STATEMENT
The crashes of a Blackhawk helicopter and American Airlines flight 5342 were caused by Donald Trump. That statement is as ludicrous as Trump’s assertion that diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) hirings were to blame.
Since he wants to save money and clearly knows better, this is the ideal time for him to disband the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Why doesn’t this president keep his mouth shut when he doesn’t have a clue about what he’s talking about? On the other hand, apart from inflicting needless additional anguish on already grieving folks, he cannot possibly damage his credibility any more than the astonishingly low level it registers at now.

Sad to think our American neighbours are saddled with such misdirected, opinionated incompetence for the next four years.
Condolences to the surviving family members, friends and associates of the crash victims.

WHERE IT’S MADE
It is very disappointing that the United States has a president who is arrogant and ruthless with no statesman-like qualities, unlike past presidents like John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.
Our governments should require that signs for all goods made in the U.S. be placed on store shelves so as to make our shopping more convenient and quicker rather than studying each individual label.
Canada strong and free.
