In these turbulent times Calgarians should relax and watch Canadian Bacon while enjoying a glass of Alberta Premium Whisky.
The 1995 movie Canadian Bacon by Michael Moore, starring John Candy and Alan Alda, is the perfect metaphor depicting the current DYSTOPIAN TRUMPONIUM TARIFFS.

(It’s a great movie, although it may be hitting a little close to home these days.)
Not in my backyard
The problem with getting anything done in this city is that everyone has an opinion. Elevated Green Line into downtown? Great as long as it doesn’t run in front of my building. High density housing in Riverbend? Too much extra traffic. A high rise off Heritage and Macleod Trail? Inconvenience for the senior home located nearby. Heck, if the city came up with free housing and bus service for homeless people in a big field just on the outskirts of Calgary some group would complain about displacing all the poor little gofers. Yes, everyone wants to solve problems in this city as long as it doesn’t inconvenience them.

Changing history
US President Trump has determined that Ukraine started the war with Russia and has decided it’s now up to Russia and America to negotiate a peace treaty. Trump has also declared Ukrainian President Zelensky a dictator and excluded Ukraine from negotiations as he and Putin set about dividing up the spoils of what they declare is a defeated Ukraine. Putin wants Ukrainian territory and Trump wants Ukraine’s critical minerals. NATO should step in and protect Ukraine from these two dictators.

(Someone needs to ensure the truth about this war is not lost.)
More cops, not cameras
What we need is more cops on the road to monitor speeders, bad drivers, unsafe vehicles, stolen vehicles, and no insurance or registration! That’s what the problems are, not the person going five miles over the speed limit, especially when the speed limit can change suddenly in the next block!
Ivy Gray
(If the speed limit changes, it’s for a reason. Agreed though, more police officers would be great. Who’s picking up the bill?)
