Winnipeg police have a suspect in custody after a brazen daytime shooting left one person injured in the North End Wednesday.
Police responded to the area of Manitoba Avenue and McKenzie Street, in the William Whyte neighbourhood, around 4:30 p.m., after receiving reports of gunfire, Winnipeg Police Service spokesperson Ally Cox confirmed by email Thursday.
A person was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital in unstable condition. Details about the victim, including age and gender, were not made available. Police said the person was later upgraded to stable condition.

Officers arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting, Cox said.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police confirmed investigators are aware of a video of the incident, captured by a nearby witness, that is circulating on social media.
The original post garnered nearly 750,000 views by Thursday morning, with several other accounts reposting the video.
The video, about a minute and a half long, showed two people approach the southern corner of Manitoba and McKenzie, with one carrying a long firearm.
The armed person sprinted eastbound on Manitoba out of view of the camera, while the second person lingered behind.
The sound of at least four shots rang out in the first 43 second of the video. After roughly one minute, four different people — two of them also carrying firearms— ran back to the southern corner of Manitoba and McKenzie.
One of the group members appeared to be limping and was being assisted by another person.
At the end of the video, one of the armed people fired a final shot. The recoil caused them to drop their weapon into the snow, and they scrambled to pick it up before fleeing.
Several passing motorists and pedestrians were in the area as the shooting occurred, the video showed.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or at Crime Stoppers 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
