Windsor police surrounded a home in the city core on Friday in a standoff that lasted several hours.
The operation in the 1200 block of Janette Avenue drew a heavy police presence, which shrunk by late afternoon
Police posted a notice about the “active investigation” on the service’s X account, but provided little more information.
“There is no threat to public safety but expect a sustained police presence in the area,” the police post on X said. “Please avoid the area until further notice.”

One neighbour told the Star that he saw emergency vehicles around 9 a.m.
A witness at the scene said there are about a dozen police vehicles at the location, including the Emergency Service Unit. Paramedics were also on the scene.
The witness said police have a house surrounded, with officers at the front and rear of the structure.
Hand-written messaging could be seen written on the front of the large white house. The sustained police presence attracted a number of onlookers throughout the day.
