As the NFL draft approaches, teams and fans are starting to get a closer look at some of the top prospects, which is especially enticing for fans whose teams are selecting at the top of the draft.
One of the most highly touted prospects, and the top quarterback in the draft class, is Cam Ward out of Miami. He had his Pro Day Monday, where he showed great arm talent and confidence.
In fact, he is so confident entering the NFL, that in an interview following his Pro Day outing, he called out the Dallas Cowboys defense when asked about his transition to the NFL.

“I think some teams in the NFL did a lot of two-high stuff. Like Dallas, running a lot of Tampa, a lot of Cover-2,” he said. “They leave way too much space on the sideline down the seams. I just think the arm strength and the confidence that I bring in, along with me getting my receivers better, I just think I’m gonna put the ball where I want.”

Ward definitely has the confidence of the first overall pick in the draft, but the even more interesting part of his comment is specifically calling out the Cowboys.
The Cowboys seem like they are always being called out nowadays, with former players beefing with current players publicly as just one of many examples.
The current most likely destination for Ward in the NFL draft is the Tennessee Titans, who play in the opposite conference of the Cowboys and aren’t highly likely to face them next season.
However, another potential destination for Ward is the New York Giants, who seem keen to trade up and take the top QB.
Given how confident he is he can dice up one of their division rivals, they may want him even more, and it also provides an interesting storyline when the two teams face off twice next season.
Given the two teams finished bottom of their division, it may be a needed storyline to make their matchups more interesting.
At this point in the draft process, Ward seems like the clear top option for a team in need of a quarterback, especially after a great Pro Day showing.
While confidence definitely doesn’t translate to success, it definitely should help Ward in the NFL, especially if his confidence allows him to trust in his arm and his ability to read defenses, as he alludes to when talking about the Cowboys.
