Gardai arrested a motorist in the Letterkenny area on Sunday for a raft of road traffic offences – including drug-driving.
The vehicle in question was stopped by the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit, who detected the car travelling at a speed of 139km/h on a road governed by a 100km/h speed limit.
After being pulled in, the driver tested positive for cocaine when a roadside breath test was conducted.
The car was displaying a false insurance plate, the NCR expired back in February and the car’s tax was out of date since July, 2024.
The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized by gardai.
“The driver involved will now receive a number of fixed charge penalty notices and a date to appear in court,” a Garda spokesperson said. Never take unnecessary risks on the roads.”
