A man robbed two women days apart in a drug store parking lot in Port Orange, injuring them when he knocked them down while snatching their purses, police said.
The first incident happened July 31 when the suspect, now identified as Charles Nelson, 34, ran up to the woman, grabbed her purse and knocked her down on the pavement. The victim, 77, was injured, police said.
Then on Monday, Nelson snatched a purse from a 64-year-old woman knocking her down to the ground and injuring her as well, police said.
Both robberies occurred as the women were walking in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy at 3771 Clyde Morris Blvd. And in both cases, Nelson was seen escaping in a black older model Ford Expedition, police said.
On Monday, Port Orange police detectives, helped by patrol officers, located and arrested Nelson.
Nelson is also a suspect in a similar incident that occurred in South Daytona, Port Orange police said.
Nelson was charged with robbery by sudden snatching, battery on a person over 60, grand theft, fraud, and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony in the two Port Orange incidents.
He was being held in the Volusia County Branch Jail Monday without bail.
Additional charges are pending a further investigation, police said.
