Police have swooped on a residential street in a tight-knit Gold Coast community after the discovery of a girl’s body.
Emergency services were called to a home on Central Place at Carrara around 6pm.
A 10-year-old girl was located unresponsive, reportedly by one of her parents, and declared deceased at the scene.
The street, part of the Emerald Lakes community, was cordoned off as crime scene investigations examined the scene.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson confirmed it was a murder investigation.
There were unconfirmed reports the girl had suffered stab wounds.
No further information was available from police on Tuesday night.
