During Thursday’s episode of BBC Breakfast, Charlie Stayt was delivering the day’s top stories to viewers.
While audiences are accustomed to seeing him co-host the show with Naga Munchetty, the 49 year old was noticeably absent from her usual spot on the couch.
Instead, Luxmy Gopal joined Charlie at the helm, a familiar face for weekend viewers of the BBC programme.
Viewers quickly took to Twitter to express their approval of Luxmy sharing the spotlight with Charlie, with many advocating for a regular rotation of presenters.
One viewer tweeted: “Great to see Luxmy this morning on the breakfast sofa,” reports the Express.

Another delighted fan posted: “Good morning Charlie and Luxmy What a lovely surprise to see you this morning Luxmy. I am liking the switching around of presenters that seems to be happening more at the moment Love our BBC.”
Former colleague Edward Sault chimed in: “What a treat to be able to hand back to my old pal @luxmy_g from”.

Another tweet read: “Morning again Luxmy and of course Charlie, lovely surprise seeing you this morning”.
Recently, Luxmy announced she would be leaving her position at BBC Look North after landing a permanent role on BBC London.
The TV personality is typically seen broadcasting live from various UK locations as she delivers news segments to the studio hosts.
Luxmy Gopal, while co-presenting alongside Roger Johnson, made her mark with a quip that flew under the radar for most but not for weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.
Luxmy had remarked: “Well, it’s got a trunk.”

Although her co-host Charlie didn’t catch it, Carol responded with enthusiasm, saying: “I liked Luxmy’s joke about having a trunk!”
The BBC presenter acknowledged: “At least you noticed it, Carol! Nobody else, absolute tumbleweed elsewhere, but thank you, Carol.”
Prompted by Charlie to repeat it, she declined: “It’s not worth repeating, if you’ve got to repeat a joke, it’s just nope.”
Appreciating Carol’s recognition, Luxmy lightheartedly declared her as now her favourite.
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
