With the start of every new expansion in World of Warcraft, a breadcrumb quest points you in the direction of the new content, and The War Within is no different. You will need to complete the first breadcrumb quest to head to the new area in which the expansion takes place. Here is how to start The War Within campaign quest in WoW.
How to start The War Within quest in WoW
As long as you are a Level 70 character in World of Warcraft, simply logging in will cause the breadcrumb quest, properly titled The War Within to pop up. If you open your Quest Log, you should see the quest at the top under your Campaign quests.
Some players who were logged in to World of Warcraft at the time that The War Within quest went active indicated that they didn’t automatically receive the breadcrumb popup notification for the new expansion quest. If you don’t automatically receive The War Within quest in WoW, try simply logging out, completely closing World of Warcraft, and then relaunching and logging back in.
Re-logging in seems to fix the bug that causes The War Within campaign quest to not automatically start.
How to complete The War Within quest and reach Isle of Dorn
For the first The War Within quest, you need to head to the sword that’s embedded in Azeroth located in Sillithus. It’s the same place you started your journey in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. Check your inventory for a scroll that will automatically teleport you to where the quest starts. Head under the sword and speak with Magni to continue The War Within quest and progress through the quest objectives.
After finishing this initial quest, you will head to Dalaran to complete the introduction to The War Within. Upon completing this introduction questline you will end up at The Isle of Dorn and continue your journey in WoW The War Within.
