According to the police, the victim was a beggar who resembled Muniswamy Gowda. His name and other information are still unknown. Muniswamy Gowda reportedly planned the crime to solve his financial problems. The murder took place on August 13 in Hassan, a district near Bengaluru.
The police investigation revealed that after befriending the beggar, Muniswamy Gowda and Shilparani took him on a car journey. During the trip, Gowda pretended that the car had a flat tire and asked the beggar to assist him. While the beggar was helping, Gowda allegedly pushed him under a passing lorry driven by Devendra Nayaka.
The crime was intended to look like a tragic road accident, with the aim of convincing everyone that Muniswamy Gowda had died. Even the funeral was conducted in a way that raised no suspicions.
Later, Shilparani also gave a statement to the police to support the deception and began the process of claiming the insurance money.
However, Muniswamy Gowda, fearing that he might get caught, visited his relative, Inspector Srinivas, who is the inspector at Sidlaghatta police station. But Inspector Srinivas, who had attended the funeral, was shocked to see Gowda alive and immediately alerted the Hassan police.
Under police custody and questioning, Muniswamy Gowda confessed to the crime. The police stated that Gowda, who owned a tire shop in Hoskote, was facing serious financial difficulties, which led him to commit this crime
