Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with utmost joy and enthusiasm on Monday, August 26.
People celebrated the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami on Monday. The day commemorates Lord Krishna’s birth and is marked with tremendous enthusiasm. Many actors in the entertainment industry also took part in the celebrations. Here, many well-known faces such as Hitesh Bharadwaj, Kanwar Dhillon, and actress Samridhii Shukla opened up about their special childhood memories associated with the festival, and what it means to them.
Hitesh Bharadwaj, known for his role in the daily soap Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein, shared how he used to love dressing up as Krishna. He said, “The festival of Janmashtami has always been a special and divine one for me, as I hail from Mathura. Every household there awaits this festival, and it is celebrated with glee and fervour. There are special cuisines and sweets as well that are prepared that can be eaten during the fasts.”
Udne Ki Aasha fame Kanwar Dhillon also shared memories of his fun-filled childhood Janmashtami. The actor shared how he used to participate in the Dahi Handi pyramid every year but once, after falling, he stopped and chose cheering instead. He recalled, “I used to be a part of Dahi Handi crews, which used to form a human pyramid and participate in Dahi Handi, but I fell once, and after that, I used to only cheer and root for them.” He also shared how he danced his heart out post dahi handi and dressed up as Krishna during school functions.
For actress Samridhii Shukla, the best part of the festival was the rituals performed at night and having a holiday at school for the occasion. She told Flimibeat, “My fondest memory of the festival of Janmashtami would be to be a part of the bhajans and rituals that take place at night to mark Lord Krishna’s birth. It was one of the best feelings”, She also added that since it was a holiday, they would go out to watch Dahi handi.
Moreover, actress Neha Harsora reportedly recalled, “My mother makes sweets and makhan for the festival. We perform pujas and garba, and this is attached to me.” Further, Ankita Raizada who plays the role of Aman Singh Rajpoot in Advocate Anjali Awasthi shared how, “As a kid, I thought about Lord Krishna actually coming and eating maakhan, which I started relishing, and I remember one day I consumed maakhan just like Lord Krishna used to.”
