At any point while launching the game, you might be greeted by the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 infinite loading screen error. This error gets right in the way of you playing on the opening screen, and it’s incredibly infuriating.
After completing the game’s tutorial and a few hours of missions, I experienced the infinite loading screen error in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. It made me think I’d need to delete the game and maybe even my save file just to jump back in. However, I had a suspicion as to what the issue behind this error was, and I tried a fix that I thought could help me get around it. I was right in my testing, and now I’m going to share how you can fix this error too.
How to fix the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 infinite loading screen error
Connecting your device to the internet will fix the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 infinite loading screen error. The error is caused by the game attempting to connect to its servers, finding no connection, and then getting you to press the X button (or whichever is relevant for your platform) to restart the attempt to connect.
This only happened to me after completing the tutorial, meaning I couldn’t get into the game to start a new game, continue, or even look at the settings. If this happens to you, there are a few options as to what you could try to reconnect and fix the error.
I used my phone to create a hotspot and briefly connected my PS5 to that to get past the loading screen. You could do this with a neighbor’s wifi or a friend’s phone. Once you’ve gotten through the loading screen, you can disconnect the game and continue playing offline without any further issues.
You could also plug your device into the internet with an ethernet cable to get that connection running. You can still disconnect the device once you’re through the loading screen. The thing you want to achieve is getting past that because the game will leave you inside the Battle Barge or a mission, even if your connection drops out of nowhere.
You don’t need a permanent online connection to play Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 unless you’re playing multiplayer with others. You can play the campaign offline and even some of the side content, like Operations, if you fancy something a little different.
