This year, the Parade extended its reach to include Edgemont Park Estates in Corman Park, with a Lexis-built show home at 506 Edgemont Street. The spacious floor plan boasts over 2,100 square feet on one level.
The bungalow design is uncommon for the Lexis, but Julie Tenaschuk, project manager and designer from Lexis Homes, says it was very intentional.
The demographic we are targeting here is either soon to be empty-nesters or already empty-nesters. Edgemont Park is really great for that, because it gives that independence, but it’s still close to the city,” says Tenaschuk. “(Our clients) are wanting to design a house that fits their current life, and they’re forward thinking about their needs in the future.”
The floor plan, called The Indulge, can be tweaked slightly to fit on lots in The Willows, where Lexis owns a couple of lots for potential customers. “We did build it with The Willows in mind, because we do have two lots there,” explains Tenaschuk.
The Indulge boasts a very open foyer, complete with large storage closet and a bank of windows flooding the stairs to the basement with light. The earthy tones and cozy textures of the decorative stucco application in the entrance is just the first of many unique design touches.

The extra-wide hallways provide enough space for a wheelchair, a design feature that carries on throughout the house, including the bathrooms.
But the expansive entrance isn’t just a grand space for greeting guests, it also has an option for a future elevator. The closet can be converted into an elevator shaft to make the lower level accessible for those with mobility issues, a helpful feature for older homeowners.
The main living area, while still open concept, isn’t the cavernous great room of past years. Visual dividers, such as a change in ceiling height and changes in flooring, help to give each room its own identity.
The kitchen showcases the very modern stylings of The Indulge with a large quartz-topped island, minimalist range hood and sleek hardware-less cabinetry. The home will be an entertainer’s dream with full-size fridge and full-size freezer in a side-by-side configuration that looks bespoke.
A multi-functional nook offers more storage and can be easily converted into a beverage station or bar.
A butler’s pantry off the kitchen offers extra storage or a place for unsightly counter-top appliances such as an air-fryer, toaster or pressure cooker. Storage is a main feature of the main kitchen as well with cabinetry all the way to the 10-foot ceilings.

The flooring throughout is hardwood in a neutral walnut tone.
Regardless of where you go in the home natural light plays a key role in every room. Nowhere is that more true than the principal bedroom. Deep red walls frame oversized windows, making the sweeping views stand out even more.
“It’s so rich and cozy,” says Julie Tenaschuk. “There’s this thing in the design world called colour washing where everything is the same colour — the walls, the baseboards, everything. There’s a psychological effect where the view becomes the only thing you’re looking at. The idea is the dark colour becomes negative space next to the view (out the window).”
The ensuite bathroom has a curbless shower for accessibility. The designer touches here include a separate water closet, oversized tiles, vessel sinks and a set of funky light fixtures.
The lower level, which can also be modified for a walk-out lot, is lit by extra-large windows (four feet by four feet) with custom-made window wells, and the light that spills in from the large foyer at the front of the house.
The basement boasts two bedrooms with a room that is currently staged as a gym, but could easily serve as a crafting/sewing/painting room. Roll vinyl linoleum and large windows make it functional and bright.
