MANITOWOC – A 78-year-old Madison man has died after being struck Saturday night by an SUV while crossing the street on Maritime Drive.
Manitowoc Police and Fire Rescue departments were dispatched to the intersection of Maritime Drive and Huron Street just before 9:30 p.m. Sept. 14 for a crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian in the roadway.
According to a news release from police, witnesses reported the pedestrian was crossing westbound on Maritime Drive when he was struck by a southbound SUV.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. His name was withheld by police pending notification of family.
The driver of the SUV was a 78-year-old California man who was uninjured. His name was also not released by police.
Wisconsin State Patrol is reconstructing the crash as it remains under investigation by police and State Patrol.
