Jamie Theakston has revealed that he has been diagnosed with stage 1 Laryngeal cancer after removing a lesion from his vocal cords.
The radio presenter who co-hosts Heart Breakfast with Amanda Holden, took to social media to reveal that a biopsy from a recent operation has confirmed that he has cancer.
The 53-year-old said in a post: ‘So… I have cancer…but the cancer doesn’t have me! The prognosis is very positive and I’m hoping to be back with you in October.’
He revealed he’d be stepping down from his radio presenting role at Heart Radio until next month.
‘Until then, I’ve been told to give my voice a rest and leave you in the mostly capable hands of JK and Amanda. Huge thanks to them and all the Global Family who have been unbelievably supportive.

His co-host Amanda Holden announced the news on air and took to social media to support Jamie.

The presenter revealed on September 1 that he had viewers to thank for his early diagnosis.

‘Got it checked – Doctor’s found a lesion on my vocal cords which I’ve had removed this weekend – thanks for all the kind messages – should be back on my feet soon – in the meantime [zipped mouth emoji]’
