- Work in a library as an apprentice for a month
- Your choice of books and interactions will determine the reader’s lives
- The Endless Reference mode offers the same entertainment at a slower pace
If you’ve ever dreamt of running a library and shaping the lives of its patrons, Kakureza Library should be the next game on your list. Originally released on Steam in 2022, this librarian adventure is now available on Android and iOS. Now you can run your own library from the palm of your hands.
In Kakureza Library, you take on the role of an apprentice librarian, working in a cosy, fictional library. Your main tasks are simple – checking out books and helping users find exactly what they’re looking for. But it’s so much more than that.
As you progress and the story deepens, you will realise that your decisions, such as which book to recommend or how you interact with the visitors, can alter the course of their lives. Every book has the potential to be life-changing, and it’s up to you to make those decisions wisely. The borrower’s fate now rests in your hands.
The game offers over 260 books, each with detailed information, including images and bibliographies. These books play a central role in the story’s branching paths, allowing multiple possible endings, some of which may even be bad. Will you be able to make it through the one-month probation period?
Beyond the main storyline, Kakureza Library also offers a mode called Endless Reference, which while more relaxing, remains just as intellectually stimulating. In this mode, you must assist a steady stream of randomly generated users, each with different questions, and guide them to the right materials. Previously exclusive to the Japanese version, it is now available in English too.
