Passaic County’s Prosecutor’s Offices said that a 32-year-old Carlstadt man suspected of driving while under the influence has been charged with death by auto charges following a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist Sept. 20.
The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Paulison and Pennington avenues, officials said.
The motorcyclist, identificed as Carlos Oscario-Rodriguez, 59, of Allentown Pennsylvania, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:12 p.m., officials said.

Oscario-Rodriguez was riding his motorcyle through the intersection when he was struck by a Ford Excursion.
In a news release released Saturday, Sept. 21, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes identified the driver as Johnny Aguilar, and alleged his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at the time of the accident.
He has been charged with second degree death by auto charges, and remains in custody awaiting his first appearance at Central Judicial Processing.
If convicted, the driver could be facing a prison sentence of five to 10 years.
“We implore people not to drive under the influence,” Passaic Mayor Hector Lora said, “to avoid tragedic incidents like this from happening.”
