- CBT registrations open until 6th October
- 3,000 players to be selected
- Still no news on a Western launch
Persona 5: Phantom X is an RPG that fans have been waiting for quite some time now. While there’s no news on a Western release yet, players in Japan can get ready for this massive title. It’s already been out in China, Taiwan, and South Korea since April, gaining a lot of popularity there. Now, before the Japanese launch, you can participate in the closed beta test to get a taste of the game in advance.
Registrations for Persona 5: Phantom X’s closed beta test have just begun and will remain available until October 6th. Following this, the playtest will go live, although no dates have been locked in yet. Between Android, iOS, and PC, 3,000 players will have the opportunity to test the RPG before anyone else.
If you haven’t heard about the game before, it is an RPG with social elements. You will venture into a local world full of characters and battles with supernatural foes. Given Persona 5’s popularity, Phantom X’s core elements will be nearly identical. What’s added are gacha mechanics, which are a given on such mobile games now.
While the gameplay elements may feel similar, the story and cast are completely different as the mobile adaptation just takes inspiration from the original setting. The protagonist is named Wonder and the title will focus on high-schoolers from Kokatsu Academy. They come into contact with the Metaverse, an alternate world which grants them the power to use Personas.

Unfortunately, while there isn’t any announcement for a Western version, I wouldn’t rule it out just yet. Phantom X is already going international by moving from China to Japan, which means the rest of the world is a possibility too.
