Re: Governor General ends Quebec trip when reporters notice she can’t speak French, online, Sept. 27
I don’t know what Mary Simon was thinking three years ago, at the age of 74, when she promised to learn French. No, seriously. I don’t. No idea.
There are more, but to name only some, Mary has to learn the plus-que-parfait, l’imparfait, le subjonctif passé, le futur proche, the subjonctif plus-que-parfait and the list goes on. Just mastering the verb “go” in French is no small feat.
Here we are three years later and the Governor General, at the age of 77, not surprisingly hasn’t mastered the French language. If she had been smart three years ago, she would have turned down the job offer.

POILIEVRE KEEPING IT LIGHT

A couple of personal observations from the heated exchanges taking place in the House of Commons lately.
Justin Trudeau attacks with the viciousness of a “ junkyard dog,” using bluster, slogans, innuendo and character assassination. Pierre Poilievre attacks with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes.
I like it that our prime minister in waiting can approach the debate, in this challenging situation, with a sense of humour.

THE DISTURBING BILL C-293
Re: Is Bill C-293 Canada’s ‘Vegan Act’? Column, Sept. 23
I read Dr. Sylvain Charlebois column regarding Bill C-293. It’s an excellent article detailing the disturbing, invasive and far-reaching bill, showing the alarming power to be given to public health officials. Unelected officials.

The bill is another blatant example of the tactics of the Justin Trudeau government to micromanage Canadian society and discreetly remove more civil rights. This is yet another reason we need to rid ourselves of this government while we still can.
It seems that our leader is intent on forcing his will on Canadians at all costs and that he wants to remove as many rights and freedoms as possible while he still can.
I hope our citizens wake up and take notice before it’s too late. The clock is ticking.
