- The hotly-anticipated Football Manager 2025 is now delayed
- It’s now shooting for a release date of March 2025, fittingly
- The series is Sports Interactive’s flagship football franchise
Football fans will have to shoulder a bit of disappointment this weekend, as Sports Interactive has announced that the latest entry in their Football Manager series, this time the 2025 edition, has been delayed until March next year.
It’s the second such delay to Sports Interactive’s flagship franchise, which was originally pushed back to September. Although it’ll – rather fittingly – now release in 2025, that’ll be cold comfort for fans. Football Manager is, of course, one of the premier football sims, mainly focusing on the macro-level organisation and arrangement of a football team rather than moment-to-moment play.
It’s not clear whether or not this delay will affect the touch version for mobile, which tends to release at the same time as the mainline entry. Football Manager previously benefited from an enormously successful 2024 edition, and it was set to launch exclusively for Netflix Games in a major coup for the streamer.
Rained out
The delay to Football Manager 2025 isn’t massively surprising, but will still likely encourage some grousing amongst fans. However, as I wrote, we haven’t got any further confirmation about the status of the Netflix mobile version, but I’d say it’s safe to assume that’ll probably see a delay too.
Still, if you’re hankering for a bit of football you could always check out the revival of the original game by its creator Kevin Toms, who kickstarted it back in 2015. It’s a much more stripped back version but less noise might be exactly what you need.
