Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

This weekend I have pretty big plans. I have just downloaded a couple of new games that I hope to have time to play: CherryTree, a text-based RPG, and Cooking Cats, a less-known game that looks incredibly cute (and it’s an idle game)!
I’m taking a chance playing something different than my usual gacha-RPG-Stardew Valley weekend, but that’s because I am hoping to discover something new and appealing, that is somewhat outside of my comfort zone. In all honesty, I am desperately waiting for Path of Exile 2 or Path of Exile mobile, since I have close to 4000 hours in that game (insane, I know!).
Who knew switching from cutesy pixel cat games to gore-y action RPGs could be so easy?

As I mentioned last week, I did indeed return to Phobies. Checking my match history after logging in, I discovered my last match was over two years ago, which shocked me as much as it gave me a mini existential crisis. Once that had passed, I enjoyed being back in that creepy world. The character designs are fantastic, and it was great to see some new ones shuffling about the maps. My win rate is not impressive, with it threatening to drop below 50% any day now. However, I’ve tasted victory more than I expected, which will keep me playing a while longer.
But I also need something less multiplayer-focused. I’ve always been – and always will be – predominately a solo gamer. And this time, it’s Disney Pixel RPG that’s piqued my interest. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t judging a book by its cover with this one. The art style is just so darned cute – I have to try it. The slight red flag is it promises simple, fast-paced combat. That sounds like automated battles that aren’t overly engaging, but I’ll find out over the weekend!

Much like the week before, I’m still happily journeying along with my capybara in Capybara Go! – I’ve actually progressed quite a bit (my capybara is riding a crocodile now, as he should), but I won’t focus too much on this adorable idle game lest Will smite me with rage.
Instead, I’m hoping to dive into Miraibo GO this weekend (because ending titles with “Go” is totally hip on mobile, it seems!) – the only problem is that I can’t seem to get in at the moment as there’s a long queue to actually even enter the game. Here’s hoping the issue gets resolved over the weekend – if not, there’s always more capybara-ing to do.

I’m just looking forward to getting back into gaming, as I didn’t really have the chance to play anything lately. I was in Greece for a couple of weeks to get some things in order, and the trip was tiring.
Anyhow, I’m itching to make a final push for Masters in TFT before the current set ends, so there’s that. Also, I saw an AD for a new gacha RPG called Resonance Solstice, and I’m thinking of trying it out. It has a similar battle style to Reverse 1999, from what I’ve heard, and I find it interesting. Plus, there’s this Europa game that’s being released today on Steam. It’s an action 3D platformer, and the graphics look good, so yeah, I might give it a try.

Given I’m flying again soon I reckon I’ll take another crack at Balatro. It always runs the fine line between addictive and frustrating that makes it quite moreish.
And I know I mentioned it last week but I’ve never found anything quite as effective at whiling away the hours as Vampire Survivors.
Although, now that I have a CRKD Atom courtesy of reviewing it earlier this week, I could try and dive into Symphony of the Night proper again.
So many choices!

Pokemon Go will definitely rear its head again this weekend as there’s a Raid Day for Mega Mawile taking place, however I accidentally dragged trusty-companion Balatro into a folder on my phone and, while digging around, rediscovered Million Onion Hotel.
Million Onion Hotel is another deceptively compulsive game, albeit one with funky beats and the chaotic energy that only Japan was successful at exporting during the early PS1 era – a time of Bishi Bashi Special, Vib Ribbon, Incredible Crisis and more. You simply tap to pick onions, but then there’s suddenly bombs, machines, monsters and more, all while a bizzare story plays out every dozen or so levels, one that initially revolves around an affair in a hotel but plays out beyond intercontinental missiles and beyond.
It’s great, and it’s also – notably – premium. But, as you’ll be able to read in the new week, its my opinion that premium (and porting) are coming back into style with a vengeance.
