Kate Cassidy, the girlfriend of former One Direction star Liam Payne, has been left reeling after his tragic death at just 31 years old. The social media influencer, who had been with Payne for approximately two years, expressed her profound grief, stating to her followers on Instagram that she’s at a “complete loss” following the incident in Argentina.
Liam tragically died after falling from a hotel balcony, it’s believed that Liam fell from around 13 or 14 metres and suffered “very serious injuries incompatible with life.” Police say the music star’s hotel room had been “in complete disarray” with “various items broken”. A whiskey bottle, lighter and mobile phone had been retrieved from the internal hotel courtyard where Liam’s body was found.
Kate has broken her silence following his death, taking to Instagram to say: “Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real.” She pleaded for privacy as she mourns, saying, “I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”
In her heartfelt tribute, Kate called Liam her angel and declared her everlasting love: “Liam, my angel, you are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely.” She vowed to continue loving him “for the rest of my life”, adding a simple yet poignant, “I love you Liam.”
Her moving words came shortly after Simon Cowell, the music mogul who famously formed One Direction on ‘The X Factor’, shared his own devastation on Instagram. Simon penned: “You never really know how you feel about someone until a moment like this happens,” and admitted, “Liam, I am truly devastated. Heartbroken. And I feel empty.”
He concluded with a testament to his deep affection for the late singer: “And I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you. Every tear I have shed is a memory of you.” Simon said the singer’s seven year old son, whose mother is former X Factor judge Cheryl, will be “so proud” of what he achieved during his 31 years.
He added: “I have met your son, Bear. He has your smile and that twinkle in his eyes you have. He will be so proud of everything you achieved. And how you achieved it.” The 65 year old music mogul expressed his intention to tell Liam’s legion of fans about his character, describing him as “kind, funny, sweet, thoughtful, talented, humble, focused” and emphasizing “how much love you genuinely had for the fans.”
Simon reminisced: “I had to tell you when you were 14 that this wasn’t your time. And we both made a promise that we would meet again. A lot of people would have given up. You didn’t.” He praised Liam’s dedication to his fans, noting, “You came back and within months the whole world knew Liam. And you never forgot the fans.”
Simon recalled observing Payne’s genuine interactions with admirers, saying, “I watched you spending so much time with people who had wanted to meet you. You really cared.” Reflecting on a more personal note, Cowell shared that Payne had visited him last year “not for a meeting, just to sit and talk”, where they “reminisced about all of the fun times we had together”.
“After you left, I was reminded that you were still the sweet, kind boy I had met all those years ago,” he said. Simon went on to say that he always saw the One Direction boys as “brothers”, and their individual social media tributes confirmed this belief.
This comes after Horan, the last band member to pay tribute, expressed his intention to “cherish every moment” he spent with Payne “forever”. Just two weeks prior, Payne was seen dancing at Horan’s show at the Movistar Arena in Argentina, alongside his girlfriend Kate.
The One Direction band members shared emotional tributes to Liam, while a joint statement from the band revealed they were “completely devastated” and would miss the singer “terribly”, adding that the “memories we shared with him will be treasured forever”.
The singer’s family expressed their heartbreak following his death, stating: “Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.”
Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend Cheryl has posted an emotional tribute following his sudden death at the age of 31. The Girls Aloud singer shared a heartwarming black and white photo of baby Bear lying alongside his dad and One Direction star.
