To breaking news now and a 27-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a young father was bashed in the Perth CBD in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Zachary Hepping, 25, said he had just arrived at the nightclub spot when he was attacked by up to 10 strangers in Prince Laneway around 2.45am.
He suffered a shattered face with a broken jaw, broken nose and broken eye sockets, and will require surgery.
“I was walking past and then bumped shoulders with someone, and he asked me what’s going on, and from there it just started … and I was only in the city for 10 minutes, so I’d only just got there,” Hepping told 9 News Perth.
Police arrived and broke up the altercation, however Hepping left before paramedics could arrive, taking himself to Royal Perth Hospital.
“It will be alleged that during the incident, a 25-year-old man was punched several times by the accused causing him to fall to the ground where he was further assaulted,” a police spokesman said.
The accused man will front court today.
