If you’re the sort of person that waits all year for Black Friday sales to roll around before investigating a new TV or an upgrade for your home theatre system, you wouldn’t be alone. The Amazon Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are already underway and the Hi Fi deals are already rolling in. To help you sort through the many deals on offer, we’ve collected five of our top picks across TVs, Hi-Fi and home theatre. Here are the best Black Friday home theatre sales to shop.
Sony 42″ A90K BRAVIA TV ($1,699, Save $1,400)
Sony loves a deep discount for Black Friday, and nowhere more than on its range of Bravia TVs. At a whopping 45% off, 42” A90K Bravia represents one of the deepest discounts of the weekend. A mid-sized panel perfect for a bedroom or home office, it comes with all the bells and whistles. An OLED panel for dazzling HDR colour and darker tones, 4K resolution for crystal clear viewing, built-in PS5 compatibility and Google TV.
If 42” is a bit on the small side for you, the panel also comes in a 75” and monstrous 85” variant too, both of which are also discounted in the sale. If you have the room for it, the 75” is well worth checking out because it’s going EVEN CHEAPER than the 42”.
LG NanoCell NANO81 55 Inch 4K UHD LED Smart TV ($999, Save $396)
LG is also discounting several TVs for Black Friday, including its 55” NANO81 4K panel. I include this panel in the list because it fills an important size gap that Sony’s discounts overlook. The 55” is considered to be squarely in the Goldilocks Zone for the modern living room – not too big, not too small, it’s just right. It also features the bells and whistles you want in a TV in this price range – 4K resolution, smart TV features, and HDR colour reproduction to make your images really pop.
It also comes in a 65” model, discounted to $1,299, if you’d like to go a bit larger.
JBL Bar 1000 Soundbar with Detachable Surround Speakers ($1,184, Save $315.95)
As more and more Australians have found themselves adopting apartment living over more traditional homes, the soundbar market has exploded.
The JBL Bar 1000 is one of the better models in the space, and is particularly good for those who want real surround sound without cumbersome satellite speakers. The Bar 1000 comes with a chunky subwoofer that can be placed anywhere in the room, along with a pair of surround speakers that can be attached to the bar itself when not in use.
The satellite speakers are wireless and battery powered. This means you can detach them when you want surround sound without worrying about running wires around the room. You can set them up where you like, and reattach them when you’re done to recharge. Simplicity itself.
Also comes in the cheaper Bar 500 model (no satellite speakers), or the Bar 300 (no subwoofer), if you’re happy to jettison some of the bells and whistles.
Panasonic SC-UX100GN-K Mini Hi-Fi System ($237.10, Save $40.90)
Call me an aging Millennial but there’s still something special about a classically styled 2.0 Channel home stereo.
The Panasonic SC-UX100GN-K is the ultimate showcase for all your carefully curated Spotify playlists, and boasts a warm, room-filling sound thanks to its big 300W of output. It also features a suite of built-in equalisers to help it make all your tracks sound good, no matter what you throw at it. Bluetooth streaming from any of your devices is made extremely easy, but it also has USB compatibility if you’d prefer to fill a hard drive with a vast library of songs.
But the biggest benefit? It’s a lot of sound for very little money – under $240 for Black Friday. Sometimes it pays to respect the classics
Dangbei Atom Laser Projector ($999, Save $301)
For the movie buffs who aren’t content with buying a large TV and need to fill an entire wall with light and sound, the home projector is a must-have. The Dangbei Atom Laser Projector is one of the more interesting projectors on sale during Amazon’s Black Friday Sale. It’s teeny tiny – just 20cm long and 4cm high – and features built in Google Smart TV features.
The trade-off with a projector like this, which is much cheaper than a full-blooded brand name equivalent, is that the image resolution tops out at 1080p. If resolution is no barrier for you, then this makes a very strong argument for itself indeed.
