I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star Oti Mabuse’s family have flown to Australia ahead of reuniting with her.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star, 34, is one of the 12 famous faces who last week entered the jungle for the latest season of the long-running ITV series.
Ahead of joining camp, Oti said she was ‘up for the challenge’ despite being ‘petrified’ of spiders, which she called her ‘biggest fear’.
However so far she’s been able to avoid facing them, with other celebrities (namely, Dean) being nominated by the public to take on the Bushtucker trials.
Now her husband, Romanian professional dancer Marius Iepure, has been snapped arriving at Brisbane Airport with their one-year-old daughter and Oti’s mum Dudu.
In one shot, Marius was seen holding their daughter in a baby carrier while wheeling suitcases through the terminal after getting off the long-haul flight.
Their daughter, whose name hasn’t been revealed publicly, was wearing a pink tracksuit set and was shielded from the cameras by her dad.
Another photo showed Marius smiling and posing with his mother-in-law, who is also mum to Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse.
Other family members of the stars were also seen touching down, including Danny Jones’ mum Kathy and Jane Moore’s daughters Grace and Ellie.
Although there have been no eliminations yet this season, once they start, each star is reunited with family members on the famous bridge.
However earlier this month Oti spoke about a shocking exchange that saw her husband told to ‘prove’ their daughter was his while travelling without his wife.
‘He got asked at border control “show me proof that this is your child”. He’s never had to show proof… it was a learning curve for him,’ she said while speaking to Fleur East on her Black History Month: Raising The Next Generation special on Rayo.
‘First questions, “Where’s the Mum, where is she from, your baby looks very, very different;” touching the hair, “Her hair is so different”… all of that.’
Oti revealed her husband ‘felt protective’ over the issue for the first time, as he witnessed first had ‘what a microagression is’.
She continued: ‘For the first time he felt protective over the fact that now he has to explain himself, which he didn’t have to before. And he also has to see what a microagression is – because before he was like “It’s just a question” and I went, ”But it’s not is it?” ‘
On Christmas Day last year, the couple announced the arrival of their first child however a few months later Oti shared she suffered from sepsis after her daughter was born ‘very’ premature.
‘I think we didn’t hold her for about a week because she was still in an incubator with the wires, and with jaundice so she was under blue light. And she had infections because it turned out that I had sepsis,’ she said during an appearance on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum Happy Baby.
After giving birth two months early, Oti and Marius announced the arrival of their daughter when she was nine weeks old.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
