Five drivers were arrested on alcohol-related driving offences by the Essex County OPP over the weekend, including one person involved in a single vehicle collision.

A 26-year-old Kingsville woman was stopped Saturday around 1 a.m. on County Road 45 in the Town of Kingsville, after an officer allegedly observed her vehicle travelling below the posted speed limit.

The woman was charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand and driving while under suspension.
On Sunday, at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers with the Leamington detachment were conducting a Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) roadside checkpoint on Erie Street North in Leamington.
A 30-year-old Leamington man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Less than an hour later, at 3 a.m., a Leamington detachment officer on patrol “observed a vehicle that caught their attention on Erie Street North in the Municipality of Kingsville,” police said.
The officer approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver.
A 31-year-old man from Stratford, Ont., was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drug and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Sunday evening, officers with the Lakeshore detachment responded to a single vehicle collision on Lighthouse Road in Lakeshore.
The driver was not injured but he was arrested.
The 77-year-old Lakeshore man was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The final arrest was Monday at approximately 11:51 p.m.
Officers on patrol observed a vehicle “that caught their attention” on Poplar Street in Leamington.
The driver, a 65-year-old Leamington man, was charged with two counts of operation while impaired and one count each of operation while prohibited, driving while under suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
All drivers received a 90-day administrative driver’s license suspension and their vehicles were impounded for seven days and must appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in coming weeks.
