A would-be thief got away with a bag of dirty diapers after snagging what they thought was a package off an Edmonton porch.
William Tigor says his wife left the bag on the porch on Monday night after forgetting to put it in the bin.
The family’s doorbell camera captured the thief with their face covered taking it off their porch early Tuesday morning.
“He was on the bike and he saw something on my drive in front of my front door, and he thought it was a package,” Tigor told CTV News Edmonton.
“He picked it up, he came around here and then he noticed that eventually it’s a dirty diaper, and just threw it back into the front lawn. So it’s pretty funny.”
Tigor says there’s been several instances of petty crime around the neighbourhood over recent months, and while he had a laugh over the incident, he doesn’t think it will ultimately deter the thief.
“That guy will probably still come around. He knows my camera. That’s why he parked his bike on that side where my camera doesn’t catch it, and he walked a certain way to avoid having his face toward the camera.”
“Honestly, what you can do to solve it, just don’t put anything precious outside, right?”
