Re: Ford, I’ll pull plug; Says he’s ready to cut off power exports to U.S., Dec. 12
Like a good little lapdog, Doug Ford is doing Justin Trudeau’s bidding. If Ford thinks Donald Trump is going to knuckle under because of his threats, he needs to think again.
No one will win and the only ones who will suffer are people in both the U.S. and Canada. These tariffs will only be applied if the Liberal government doesn’t do something about our open borders. The U.S. president-elect isn’t the only one calling for something to be done … Canadians across the country are calling for the same thing.
It’s a sad state of affairs when we have to rely on a foreign leader to get our government to do its job. I have no issue with what Trump might do because we might finally get our borders closed and in the end help with the safety of our own citizens. It’s obvious Justin Trudeau doesn’t care.

SUPPORT FOR ELECTRICITY BAN
Ontario should threaten a booze ban on American alcohol only if it can be done consistent with the Canada, U.S. and Mexico trade agreement (CUSMA) and World Trade Organization rules.
I fully support the proposed Ontario ban on electricity exports and it is unfortunate that other provinces are so far not proposing similar measures.

GET BACK TO THE BASICS
Why does the City of Ottawa give money to things like the Ottawa Food Bank, parades, programs to help people pay hydro and gas bills, arts and cultural events? And the list goes on.
These things may be all well and good when the city is running in the black, but, until that happens, stop! Get back to absolute basics like infrastructure, transit and policing.
You can’t keep coming back to the taxpayer. News flash: Our pockets are almost empty!
