NSW Energy Minister Penny Sharpe says Tuesday’s heatwave should not pose any problems for the state’s energy network, despite the added strain from air-conditioners.

It will be “business as usual” in terms of reliability, she said. However, the main challenge was restoring power lines brought down in Monday night’s storms.
A snap cool change, and possibly severe storms, are also forecast for later on Tuesday.
Sharpe said the government’s main concern was ensuring people stayed safe in the soaring heat, including avoiding the sun, remaining hydrated and checking on the elderly and vulnerable.
Tuesday will almost certainly be the hottest day of the year so far as Sydney heads back to the office, with temperatures set to hit 40 degrees in the city and 42 in the west. This peak is predicted to hit around 2pm, with Bondi (36 degrees) set to be the coolest place in Sydney.
