Jude Law, A Law Unto Himself, issue 15, 1995
Four years before Jude Law rocketed to fame in The Talented Mr Ripley, Rankin crossed paths with him in New York and suggested they take some photos. ‘I didn’t shoot more than ten rolls of film, which isn’t much, but I couldn’t afford to do more,’ he says. The unplanned shoot resulted in candid shots of the actor capturing a time when he was still able to walk down the street without being mobbed. ‘Jude leapt up that pole himself. We were just having fun. Being New York City, no one gave us a second look.’
