Coronation Street fans think they have spotted DS Lisa Swain’s ‘twin’ – but they are not even in Weatherfield alongside the much-loved character.
Viewers were no stranger to seeing Lisa on the Cobbles as the detective sergeant but her appearances were once sporadic. The detective sergeant was first seen in 2021 when she led the police investigation into the assaults on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin which led to the latter’s death.
She went on to face backlash from Daisy Midgeley after the police didn’t stop her stalker Justin Rutherford before he launched a horrific acid attack on her wedding day, also hurting and permanently scarring Ryan Connor. She was then seen hunting down serial killer Stephen Reid back in October 2023.
But it was then wasn’t until March last year that it was confirmed that actress Vicky Myers would become a regular in Weatherfield as Lisa, with the character seen getting her teeth stuck into the case of Joel Deering and Lauren Bolton, before falling for fan-favourite Carla Connor (Alison King).
And it’s fair to say that Corrie fans don’t miss a trick, but not just Corrie, as fans of fellow ITV soap Emmerdale have noticed a link between Lisa and the Dales’ very own Vanessa Woodfield.
Michelle Hardwick has played Vanessa in the Leeds-based soap since 2012 when she was hired by Rhona Goskirk, an old friend from university, to work as a locum, and the rest, as they say, is history.
But back to soap fans’ observation and they can’t help but notice the likeness between Lisa and Vanessa – despite them appearing in opposite places.
Sharing a side-by-side picture of the pair in their respective shows, @VanitySwarla said: “Just two soap lesbians who have the same fashion sense.” @NavinCfan_xx replied: “THEY COULD BE SISTERS!” @kevinrobert1965 echoed: “They could play sisters.”
@_Rimal commented: “It’s like when parents with twins just buy the same outfit for both! They’ve got to have a photo taken together in same colour jumpers.” @LuvLara shared: “They even look similar.” @creativesoul5 posted: “I made this comment earlier too. Even the hair is the same.”
@creativesoul5 separately asked: “Why does Vanessa #emmerdale dress like Lisa from #corrie.” @HasanHussain777 added: “Anyone else notice that Vanessa was dressed and tried to look exactly like Lisa from #Corrie?#Emmerdale.”
